Message from the Principal

Hello Fairmount Park Families,

I am excited to begin this school year with the Fairmount Park community! I look forward to collaborating with you to create the best possible experience for our students. My priority this year will be to listen and learn about what makes Fairmount Park special.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, ideas, or simply to introduce yourselves. I look forward to meeting all students and families in the upcoming weeks and months.

Meet New Fairmount Park Staff

Please welcome new staff members to Fairmount Park.

Ngoc Vo is joining us as our new Administrative Secretary.

Cherrise Smith will be our counselor this year. She will be available at Fairmount Park based on her .5 schedule.

Gabrielle Hawley will be joining our 5th grade team this year. Please look for communication from her as we begin the school year.

Sarah Willis will be joining our staff as our multilingual teacher.

Abdirahman Hagaley will be joining our multilingual team.

Robyn Potocnik will be joining our 4th grade team.

Teacher Information

You will be able to access your child’s teacher information via ‘The Source’ on September 3 and at the Open House. Please avoid calling about teacher assignments beforehand as we are working to prepare for the first day of school.

School Supplies

For the 2024/25 school year, our PTA has generously covered all school supply costs for Fairmount Park students with donations from last year.

As a result, there’s no need for you to purchase supplies. Instead, please ensure your child brings a backpack and a water bottle to school.

To support future supply needs, we encourage families who can, to please contribute during the PTA fundraising campaign in November. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Daily Schedule

7:40 – Playground opens.

7:40-7:50 – Breakfast is served.

7:50 – Warning bell; students able to enter the building.

7:55 – School begins.

2:25 – Dismissal (1:10 on Wednesdays)

2:35 – Buses depart (1:20 on Wednesdays)

Upcoming Events

August 21st – office reopens to public – 7:00am-3:00pm

September 3rd – Open House – 3:00-4:00pm

• Learn and meet your teacher
• Find your classroom
• Participate in a scavenger hunt

September 4th – first day of school for grades 1-5

• Please join me at 7:55 in the cafeteria for a family meet and greet, where we will go over some pertinent information and have time to meet other families.
• Family Connection Meetings for Kindergarten Families by appointment:

Wednesday, Sept. 4th – Friday, Sept. 6th

• We ask that each Kindergarten family attend a Family Connection meeting with their child’s teacher to share information about your child.
• Teachers will be reaching out to make an appointment after August 23
• Please join me at 7:55 in the cafeteria for pertinent information and time to meet other families (this will be for kindergarten families)

September 9th – first day of school for preschool and kindergarten students

September 24th – Curriculum Night (5:30-7pm)

September 27th – Individual photos

November 8th – picture retake day and class photos

December 2nd – 5th grade trip to Islandwood
